Synopsis

The legendary Barbie doll comes to life in this modern version of Mark Twain's story "The Prince and the Pauper" about mistaken identity and the power of friendship. With Gisela's voice as Barbie singing seven original songs comes Barbie's first musical film, also playing a double role.

Princess Annelise and the humble seamstress Erika are each born in very different situations but physically they are identical, as if they were twin sisters. The only thing that differentiates them is the color of her hair: Annelise's is blonde as gold and Erika's is dark as night. By coincidences of fate, they both meet and are surprised to see their great resemblance. They become good friends and have no suspicion that their lives will come together for a great adventure.

Annelise is deeply saddened because she has been arranged to marry King Dominick, a man she does not know and whom she does not love; in order that she save her people from the misery into which he has sunk. Erika doesn't have a good time either because she lives under the orders of the dressmaker she works for, a malicious woman. The situation that each one is experiencing is complicated but things will take an unexpected turn.

Annelise is kidnapped by Preminger, the queen's evil advisor, who plans to call off the princess's wedding to ask for her hand and marry her, but things will not be so simple for Preminger, who will have his plans thwarted with the help of Erika and her enormous resemblance to the princess.

Complete plot

It tells the story of two girls who at birth are identical but only in their physical appearance. One of them is a princess named Annelise (Barbie), who has grown up surrounded by luxury, however she is extremely pressured by her royal duties, among which is marriage. The other girl is a humble seamstress named Erika, who is in debt.

One day, the two meet in town and discover that they only have two small differences: her hair and a real birthmark that Annelise has on her shoulder. But there begins a magical adventure. Annelise's teacher, Julian, who is very in love with her, although he keeps quiet about her, sees that she is very pressured by her upcoming wedding, and so he takes her to town, something he has always wanted. Annelise then meets Erika, and her cat Serafina meets Erika's "cat", Wolfie.

They return to the castle. Then the queen's advisor, Preminger, who was traveling, arrives. At night, Preminger goes to the real mine where they extract the gold to save the town. There was nothing left because he had taken over everything. There he meets her two henchmen, and tells them of her evil plan: to kidnap Princess Annelise and pretend to rescue her from her in order to ask for her hand in marriage. A few days later Annelise disappeared and Julian suspected that Preminger could be the culprit. He decides to go to the forest and there he sees a house, where Annelise was recently kidnapped, since she manages to escape from it. He is unfortunately discovered by Preminger and captured as well.

Before, when he had his plans, he went to town to see Erika and told her to pretend to be Princess Annelise and she accepted after hesitating for a few moments. Erika greatly enjoyed the luxuries of the palace but she changed plans when Annelise's mother told her that she had to marry a king named Dominick to save her kingdom. Erika got to know the king better and ended up falling in love with him. They prepared everything for the wedding but since Annelise and Julian were imprisoned, Erika couldn't leave.

When Preminger found out, he decided that he would tell the queen just that day that Erika (the supposed Annelise) was not her daughter, and that Annelise had died in an accident in the royal mine along with Julian. The queen looked at her shoulder and since she did not have the royal birthmark (a crown) her sadness overwhelmed her, and they took Erika to the dungeon. But she, who was very intelligent, knew how to escape. As she was leaving, she was "captured" by another dungeon guard who in the end turned out to be King Dominick in disguise. Annelise managed to escape from the royal mine, where she had been locked up with Julian, and went to her mother and told her that her advisor was the one who stole the gold from the royal mine and who lied to her that she and Julian had died in the mine. royal mine Preminger was imprisoned and Annelise and Erika married in a double wedding to Julian and Dominick respectively.
