Queen of the Northern Lights Barbie doll

‘Queen of the Northern Lights’ Barbie, OOAK contribution Carlyle to the 2023 Grant-A-Wish Fund Convention’s charity auction!

The theme of the convention was Alaska, and the live auction event was Northern Lights themed, so that’s what I was inspired by, specifically how the bright aquas and greens swirl through the dark sapphire starry sky. The giant ruffle made of micro-sequin net, organza and tulle swirls around her, with the feathers giving that same soft diffused edge that the northern lights has. The base gown is chiffon with a night sky print in deep sapphires and purples, with stars done in iridescent silver foil and aurora borealis swarovski crystals, overlaid on a sapphire metallic lurex. I hand-made the earrings out of chain, Swarovski crystal beads and silver star-shaped beads.

@shirleyfujisaki rooted her hair in the perfect midnight blue shade with iridescent tinsel weaved throughout, @aki_jacobson snaaaaatched it up into a chic chignon and @minhtam_ did what she always do@with a beautiful sweet minhty-fresh face. @redvanillamama created the soft watercolor-y night sky print; her name is Aurora, she created an Aurora borealis piece of fabric art, we love to see it! They’re not on the gram, but leave something nice about their incredible work and I’ll show it to them at the office! @elle.oliver.edmonds crafted a list of names for her and we decided on ‘Queen of the Northern Lights!’
