Barbie and the magic of Pegasus

Barbie and the magic of Pegasus (alternate title: Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus 3D) is a 2005 Barbie direct-to-video film directed by Greg Richardson. It is the sixth in the Barbie computer-animated film series and the second to have an original story that is not based on previous material.

Brie Larson recorded a song titled "Hope Has Wings" for this film, and the DVD includes the music video as a bonus. In Mexico, the version of this song was performed by Mariana Ochoa titled "If you have Faith", as well as in Spain this same song was recorded by María Isabel and the song was titled "En mi Jardín"

A line of toys were produced to go with the film, including dolls of Princess Annika, Aiden (called "Prince Aiden" on the box), Queen Rayla and Princess Brietta. Later an Annika Mini Kingdom Barbie doll was produced with the Mini Kingdom birthday line.

Synopsis

Barbie learns to fly in her first fairy and princess tale with an original plot. Princess Annika (Barbie) embarks on a fabulous adventure when she befriends Brietta, a splendid winged horse who takes her to the beautiful Kingdom of the Clouds. Annika has only 3 days to break the spell of Wenlock, an evil sorcerer who has turned her family into stone. In her quest to defeat Wenlok, Annika meets new friends and together they travel to forbidden forests, skate in frozen caverns and fly above the clouds trying to build a magic wand of light.

Princess Annika has had a strong argument with her parents, the kings, and she decides to escape from her kingdom despite her father's warnings. She goes to a kingdom festival, where she meets an evil sorcerer named Wenlock, who upon seeing her, asks the princess to marry him. As soon as the princess refuses, the evil man goes before the kings to warn them of the spell he will impose on the entire kingdom.

Wenlock turns the entire kingdom to stone; and Annika manages to escape helped by a Pegasus named Brietta, who will bring change and a lesson in love to her life. Annika only has a couple of days to reverse the spell that Wenlock placed on her kingdom and also on Brietta and to do so she must create the “Wand of Light” with which she will put an end to the sorcerer's evil.

Both friends must go through many adventures before finding a solution to their problems and Wenlock will not give up so easily. The creation of the Rod of Light is not a simple matter, so Annika must learn from her mistakes while the power she seeks so much to be happy again comes to her.

Complete plot

In a magical kingdom, the queen wants to surprise her daughter, Princess Annika, with a birthday gift. When she opens the door to Annika's room, she discovers that Annika is missing, having gone to an ice rink without asking permission. Out skating, Annika meets a little polar bear she names Shiver. When Annika returns to the palace, her parents are so worried that they forbid her to skate ever again.

That night, Annika escapes from the palace to participate in a festival. A powerful sorcerer named Wenlock appears and asks the princess to marry him. When Annika refuses, Wenlock angrily tells the king and queen not to forget the bad luck they had with her "other daughter", which surprises Annika. Wenlock magically turns everyone to stone, but Annika is saved by Brietta, a pegasus. Wenlock tells her that she has three days to marry him, otherwise the spell will be permanent.

Brietta takes Annika to a castle in the clouds called the Cloud Kingdom. At that moment, Annika discovers that the king and queen's "other daughter" is Brietta, who was transformed into a Pegasus by Wenlock when she refused to marry him (which would explain why Annika's parents are so overprotective). . Annika decides to build the "Wand of Light" to break Wenlock's spell. To achieve this, they must have a measure of courage, a ring of love, and an ice gem illuminated by the flame of eternal hope. The Queen of the Clouds gives Brietta a crystal bell to ring if she needs her help.

The group travels to the Forbidden Forest, where they meet a young man named Aidan who helps them after getting caught in a net. When Shiver and Annika fall into a giant's pot, Annika tricks him into chaining himself to a post, and uses her hair ribbon to get out of it. The ribbon is the same size as her, and as a measure of value, it becomes an artifact of the Rod of Light.

After trading Annika's skates for a fake map, the group finds themselves in a large cavern filled with gems, where a sign tells them to take only what they need. Even though they took only 2 gems, Shiver causes a collapse, and they narrowly escape. When Aidan begins to forge the wand, he reveals that he ran away from his house and lost all of his money gambling. He wants to go back to them and ask for their forgiveness.

Brietta offers him her tiara to make the ring of love. With the three items, the "Wand of Light" is created, and Brietta transforms back into her human form.

Annika and Brietta return to the Cloud Kingdom on two Pegasus summoned by the Queen's bell, but Wenlock pursues them, harming Brietta. Angry Annika asks for the wand to destroy Wenlock. But it doesn't work and she gives up. Finally, she agrees to marry Wenlock if he changes her parents and people back to normal people. Wenlock refuses because she is hateful, as are his other wives. He taunts her, taking the wand from Annika's hand and causing an avalanche from her, leaving Annika trapped.

Aidan immediately comes and helps dig to get Annika out. Aidan and Brietta take the weak Annika to the Cloud Kingdom. After Annika wakes up, the trio goes to Wenlock. While Brietta takes care of the pegasus, Annika, Aidan, and Shiver go to the green castle. Aidan fights Griffin while Annika searches for the wand. When she finds the wand, she suddenly drops the gem. Luckily Aidan gives Annika hers.

Realizing how the wand works, Annika asks him to defeat Wenlock, for the love of her family and friends. Wenlock turns out to be an ordinary person and the spell on Annika's parents is broken. Annika shows them Brietta and the whole family celebrates together, while Aidan's father forgives him. Aidan makes Annika meet her father. The final scene shows Aidan and Annika skating in the cloud palace. Both Aidan and Annika wear crowns, which means they have gotten married. Brietta comments that they look happy, and she gives the Queen of the Clouds the wand, who replies that she will be the first star of the night.
