Mattel tries to put Barbie in a toy box to remake her, but she escapes with the help of Gloria and Sasha and the three travel to Barbieland with Mattel executives in pursuit.
Meanwhile, Ken learns about the patriarchal system and feels respected for the first time. Back in Barbieland, he convinces the other Kens to take charge, and the Barbies are indoctrinated into submissive roles, such as agreeable girlfriends, housewives, and maids. Barbie arrives and tries unsuccessfully to convince Ken and the other Barbies to go back to how they were before. She becomes depressed, but Gloria gives an inspiring speech about society's contradictory expectations of women, which restores Barbie's self-confidence. same.
With the help of Sasha, Weird Barbie, Allan and the discontinued dolls, Gloria's speeches deprogram the Barbies from their indoctrination. Having experienced systemic oppression firsthand, the Barbies decide to rectify the flaws of their previous society, emphasizing in better treatment of the Kens and all the marginalized.
Barbie and Ken apologize to each other, acknowledging their mistakes. Ken laments that he has no meaning without Barbie, so Barbie encourages him to find an autonomous identity. Barbie, still unsure of her own identity, encounters the spirit of Ruth Handler, co-founder of Mattel and creator of the Barbie doll, who explains that Barbie's story has no fixed ending and that Its history, in constant evolution, surpasses its roots.
