Charlotte Johson
Mattel's first designer was the person who designed Barbie's first outfit.
While Barbie can take pride in having a closet with firms of many - very much - of the greatest designers in history, the first designer who wore the wrist was called Charlotte Johnson. It was she who defined Barbie's aesthetics during her first two decades of life. Fashion professor and Freelance designer, Charlotte was a lover of small details, and she took care of both searches for suppliers and to mount the production workshops in Japan. Among his inspirations were the American middle class, Jacky Kennedy and French haute couture.
