A Gem of a Sequel: Crystal Fantasy Collection Rose Quartz Barbie Doll
Last year, the Crystal Fantasy Collection debuted the fascinating Amethyst Barbie doll. This exceptional creation featured something remarkable: a genuine amethyst stone necklace. Fans were swept up in her energy and we knew this was just the beginning of an extraordinary series.
Now, the sequel arrives with Crystal Fantasy Collection Rose Quartz Barbie Doll. Not only is it exclusive to Mattel Creations, it's also exclusive to Barbie Signature members. Not a member? We've set it up so you can join the club and get it at the same time. She's a Gold Label doll that hits the online store today and sells for $100 with a limit of three dolls per person.
Continuing to be inspired by the unique energy and beauty of exceptional stones, Barbie Signature lead designer Bill Greening created the next vision of it from the warm and serene energy of the rose quartz stone. “I actually have a little enamel plate with three stones that I keep in my room,” Bill reveals. Amethyst and rose quartz are two of those stones, and we are keeping the third a secret for now.
If he compares the two dolls in the series so far, he will notice similarities beyond the gemstone theme. "Both dolls have similar vibes of light chiffon, almost Grecian-style dresses, along with lace-up heels, glass shard-inspired jewelry, and fantasy colors woven into the hair," Bill explains.
They also have real stones in their necklaces, and both amethyst and rose quartz are believed to have healing properties. While amethyst is believed to also have spiritual properties, rose quartz is imbued with more earthly properties, so to speak. “Rose quartz is about loving, trusting and calming, just to name a few,” says Bill. It is also believed to invoke kindness, compassion and self-love.
So how does a fashion designer imbue the qualities of rose quartz into the design of a Barbie doll? To start, dressing her in a floaty chiffon dress with delicate shades of opaque pink and a shiny sash. “We used the multiple shades of light pink that you can see in the actual stone in the fabric of the dress,” says Bill. "We also tried to make the doll feel magical with glitter accents in the fashion, which hint at the 'magical' properties of the stone."
Her hair also complements the tones of the stone, with subtle blush highlights. Her beautiful curls are adorned with a crown that resembles slivers of gems. Soft pink makeup put the finishing touch on her radiant look. “I think the face paint is stunning,” adds Bill, “and the little details like the polish for the fingers and toes make it special, too.”
As with all of our premium dolls, if you decide to keep Rose Quartz Barbie in her doll box, you'll still have a memorable way to display her in your collection. Packaging designer Vicky Gevorkyan created a novelty for Barbie Signature packaging with a light-up element for the Amethyst Barbie doll, and she continued that feature with the Rose Quartz Barbie doll. “It's a fun way to interact with the doll, even in the package,” says Bill.
“I wanted to continue the look and feel of the line using the same lighting structure and function so it felt like a collection, but still staying true to the crystal storytelling aligned with the doll,” says Vicky. “The graphics on the packaging are intended to evoke the healing energy and ambience of the rose quartz crystal.”
The Rose Quartz Barbie doll, and the Amethyst Barbie doll before her, are exclusive to Barbie Signature members and only available at Mattel Creations. This is your chance to get started and keep going! – compiling a series that was made for the most dedicated Barbie fans. But not all members will be able to get these dolls, so act fast to make sure you can have both in your collection today.
