Mattel recalls Barbie products due to high lead levels
The Mattel company carried out a recall due to lead paint danger of seys of Barbie accessory sets
Mattel, in cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, is voluntarily recalling seven sets of Barbie® furniture and pets. The recalled products were sold in retail stores nationwide from October 2006 to September 2007.
These toys were painted by a specific subcontractor for a limited period of time. Mattel has identified the particular pigment that was contaminated and has confirmed that only some parts of these sets are affected. Paint on affected parts contains lead above permitted levels.
Lead is toxic if ingested and can cause adverse health effects.
Mattel has also confirmed the limited manufacturing dates affected by this recall. Use the online guide to determine if the product you own is affected by this recall. Remove affected parts from children's hands immediately.
Have your product close to you when you fill out the form so you can follow the steps.
Mattel will send you prepaid shipping labels for the return of affected parts as indicated for each game. Follow the instructions included with the prepaid return shipping labels. Replacement parts along with bonus parts will be sent to you within 10 to 12 weeks after receipt of the affected parts.
