Mattel, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Tokyo 2020, has created several toys as part of a new licensing agreement and in line with the IOC's Global Licensing Strategy. The Mattel collection features various unique products in Barbie, Hot Wheels and UNO cards.

Regarding its Barbie brand, there are five sporting Barbie dolls representing the sports of baseball/softball, sport climbing, karate, skateboarding and surfing and some fashions to change the dolls' outfits.

«In line with our Global Licensing Strategy, this new international licensing collaboration with Mattel is a great way to engage with an important audience, our youngest fans and their families, and through these high-quality products to connect them with the brand, and the Olympic values," Timo Lumme, managing director of television and marketing services at the IOC, said in a statement.

The collection reflects five new sports added to the Olympic program in Tokyo: baseball/softball, sport climbing, karate, skateboarding and surfing, all to "inspire a new generation of athletes and fans" around the world. “Tokyo 2020 is a monumental event that unites the world through sport and inspires fans of all ages,” said Janet Hsu, director of franchises at Mattel. "The Mattel Tokyo 2020 Collection pays tribute to these sports and inspires a new generation through the Olympic spirit and remarkable athletic tradition."
