In the classic episode #72, "Lucy Tells the Truth, " Lucy gets caught in a few too many lies, and Ricky challenges her on her ability to fib her way through life. He bets her $100 that she can't tell the absolute truth for 24 hours. Ethel and Fred chime in, and are so sure Lucy will lose, they each take a piece of the bet for themselves. Hilarity ensues as Lucy faithfully tells the truth at first — then fibs to the Italian performer Falconi, claiming she can speak Italian. This hair brained scheme lands her the job of assistant to Falconi — the knife thrower in Ricky's show!
