Evergreen Glamour Barbie doll

Evergreen Glamour Barbie, Carlyle OOAK donation for the Italian Doll Convention! 2022 year IDC is Christmas-themed, so Carlyle went with a classic Christmas color combo but done in deep shades of evergreen with touches of garnet red. Her ball gown is made of open net embroidery over iridescent taffeta, with feathers at the hem. Garnet red gem drop earrings inspired by Christmas wreaths and tree decorations. She uses the Mackie face sculpt on the Curvy Collector body.

When Carlyle started his was so damn busy, didn’t have time or the mental space to sit down and do a proper sketch. his knew his wanted to do something Christmas green, so Carlyle just went to the fabric store and looked for interesting fabrics in this pine green shade. At first his thought his’d do a mermaid silhouette and embellish it with crystals and jewelry findings. But then working with the head of the Mattel soft goods ‘Atelier’ (she’s not on IG but she is a master!!), they let the fabric do what it needed to do, and tell us it wanted to be a full skirted situation. The gown needed another element, to finish off the hem, so his thought to play with textures and do feathers. So off to the feather store lol. His originally thought his wanted her hair to be straight and sleek with crystal chains hanging down from center part, so @shirleyfujisaki did her thing as per usual, rooting the hair in shades of black, espresso brown and burgundy. But then his was playing around with jewelry findings and made some gem drop earrings that were getting lost in her long hair. So his slicked her hair back into a ponytail (absolutely not tryna come for Shirley’s job, but it was late at night and everyone had gone home so his had to do what I had to do lol) and hand-sewed the crystal chains around and hanging down the ponytail. @minhtam_ stepped in and painted her face last minute and she was perfect on the first try, no revisions needed.
