Ruth Handler
daughter of Polish immigrants, born on November 4, 1916 in Denver, Ruth Mosko is Barbie's "mother". However, it is possible that its creation would not have come so far, or at least, so fast, if I have not met Elliot Handler, with whom he married in 1938 and who co-founded the company Mattel. In 1970 Ruth was diagnosed with breast cancer, and had to remove a chest. That fact prompted him to create the Ruthton Corporation to manufacture more realistic breast prostheses, called Nearly Me. Ruth Handler died in Los Angeles on April 22, 2002 due to colon cancer.
