Yarn Hair for dolls
Yarn hair is found on some antique dolls that were generally mass produced, as well as as in the soft molded dolls of the late '70s and '80s, the "Adopt-a-Doll" fad. The thread is usually sewn or glued to the doll's head.
The type of thread varies from thicker threads used with the "adopted" variety to fine, thinner textures of thread for older models of mass-produced dolls.
- It is usually bought in craft stores. This varies by country.
- They are usually made of: Cotton, polyester, wool, bamboo and silk.
- Available in plain, shiny, variegated, metallic, twisted (looks like a mini rope), knotty, feathered and tabbed. Ideal for rag dolls.
- Cannot be heated.
- Dye with Rit, iDye(Poly), Dylon, Tulip and human hair dyes.
It is commonly used on rag dolls and rag-look dolls (rag dolls\Monster High plush dolls and classic Cabbage Patch reproductions). Many people use it on Barbie when they boot into reroot.
